Our Management Team
As President and CEO of TBC Net, Cohen Barnes looks forward every day to working with his staff and customers to provide the highest quality of service and solutions. Cohen holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Northern Illinois University and served in the United States Army, now bringing 16 years of industry experience to our team. In his time away from the office, he enjoys activities with family, running marathons and trail running. Cohen is also active in community involvement, and has served as Chairman of the Board of the DeKalb County Chamber of Commerce, a DeKalb CUSD #428 School Board Member, on the DeKalb County Economic Development Board of Directors, on the Ben Gordon Center Board of Directors, a Co-Founder DeKalb County KEYS Initiative and a DeKalb County Tribute to Heroes Co-Chair.
Mark Smirz is the Sales Manager for TBC Net, where he is responsible for our business development and direct sales. With a diverse background in manufacturing and sales, he is a customer-based problem solver with a multi-faceted understanding of business needs that lead to smart, tailor-made solutions that fit your organization. Mark is a Microsoft Small Business Specialist, with experience in CAD design as well as professional sales training and leadership training. He is currently continuing his education in Business Management and brings a wealth of both technical and business expertise to our company. Mark formerly served in the US Navy, and in his spare time enjoys staying physically active through running races from 10ks all the way up to marathons. He also enjoys road bicycling with friends and the NITRO (Northern Illinois Trail Runners Organization) as well as traveling out west and taking challenging hikes through the mountains. Mark is dedicated to remaining involved locally by serving on the DeKalb Chamber Board and volunteering for community activities and events.
Nathan E. Allen
Nathan Allen oversees the day-to-day operations of TBC's service department, as well as handling project management for large deployments and installations, product research and development and our VMware virtualization technologies. Nathan has been with TBC for over seven years, is a Microsoft Certified IT Professional: Enterprise Administrator, and holds a B.S. in Applied Computer Science from Northern Illinois University. In his spare time, Nathan's interests include digital photography, reading science fiction and fantasy, auto racing, outdoor activities and fast pitch softball.
As the Bookkeeper for TBC, Stephanie Korzi handles the fundamental aspects of our company's financial record-keeping. With an Associate Degree of Applied Science in Accounting, she is the financial expert TBC relies on to keep our business and our valued client accounts organized, efficient and up-to-date.
Senior Engineer/Team Leader
Thomas Pope is a team leader tasked with both project work (rollouts) as well as sales engineering and day to day managed service duties. He leads a team of engineers in TBC's technical staff and is responsible for being the endpoint at his tier for any items they require assistance with. His duties also include technical writing and procedures, client training, and client relations. Thomas studied Business Information System Management at DeVry Addison and graduated Harper Tech with a focus on Windows platforms and hardware support. He holds numerous technical certifications, including: CompTIA A+ Certified, MCP, MCTS Server 2008 Network Infrastructure Configuration Specialist and several other vendor-specific certifications. He brings over a decade of IT industry experience to our team, and in his free time enjoys politics, cooking, gardening, video games, reading and spending time with his family.
Kraig Kenney is one of our expert Engineers, specializing in workstation, network and server troubleshooting, as well as server maintenance and hardware & software upgrades. Kraig earned a BS is mathematics with an emphasis in statistics, and holds numerous technical certifications including A+, Net +, Linux Redhat Certified, Alvarion Wireless Engineer, Cisco Certified Network Associate (expired), and Nortel IP Telephony Certified Engineer. With ten years of IT industry experience, Kraig is well-versed in providing the technology support our loyal clients depend on. On the weekends, Kraig enjoys closed course motorcycle road racing.
On-Site Technician and In-House Service Manager
Josh Halpern-Givens brings four years of experience to the team at TBC, and is responsible for our on-site services, including PC, server, network, and miscellaneous repair and troubleshooting. Furthermore, he oversees the day-to-day operations of our in-house repair department and specializes in hardware troubleshooting and HP warranty repairs. Josh graduated with a BA from Northeastern Illinois University, as a double-major in English and Anthropology, and is also CompTIA A+ certified and an HP Certified Professional.
Level 1 Engineer
As a Level 1 Engineer for TBC Net, Jacob Papini specializes in network troubleshooting and computer repair. He holds numerous degrees, including: A.A. S. Cisco Network Administration, B.S. in Hospitality Administration and an A.A.A. Aviation Maintenance Technology. He is currently working on his Cisco CCNA certification and his CompTIA A+ certfication. Jacob is also a veteran of the US Armed Forces and served 6 years in the US Air Force. When he's away from the office, Jacob enjoys boating & sailing, radio controlled airplanes, movies and the outdoors. .
Drew Kwait specializes in a wide range of services for TBC Net, including DSL networking, hardware and software repair, wireless networking, management and moral support. He holds an Associates degree in Science and Computer Science from Kishwaukee Community College an is currently working toward A+ Certification. With employment history as a software and hardware technician, Drew offers seven years of technology industry experience to our team. His hobbies and interests include cycling, running, FPS/strategy gaming, writing, reading, history, politics, philosophy, engineering and science.
Level 1 Engineer
As TBC Net's Level 1 Engineer, Matt Orth's responsibilities include Internet troubleshooting and computer repair, making him the expert our clients count on for professional technical support when they need it most. Matt also holds a BA in psychology and enjoys photography and bicycling in his free time.
Trisha West is responsible for working with customers and with the TBC Net team to further develop the already extensive product and service suite. She brings 15 years of customer service experience and plays a key role in providing and implementing high quality solutions for our clients. She enjoys playing volleyball, softball, reading and spending time with family and friends.
